Our rehoming process varies through three different streams to try to suit most people and most homes and of course, to find as many great Brumby homes as we can!
We get asked often why we charge people when we rehome Brumbies. We do this as responsible rescue is very expensive and fund raising is difficult! Just gelding a horse in most areas of Victoria will cost you $450 plus.
No Brumby will ever leave here without their vet work done. We won’t negotiate on that. No colts leave here ungelded. There are too many horses across Australia already competing for homes – not breeding and ensuring our Brumbies are trained is our way of keeping our beloved Brumbies out of the cycle of ‘bad’ behaviour/ rejection/ saleyards/ ‘re-rescue’ and slaughter.
All our Brumbies will all be sold eligible for registration with either Southern Cross Brumby Registry or Australian Brumby Horse Register.
If you are interested in offering your home to a Brumby through one of our programs, please do get in touch.
GENERAL BRUMBY REHOMING PROGRAM
This is our core program, where Brumbies are homed with their basic training – this means that they are used to domestic fencing and water, have had all of their vet work done (gelded, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed etc), they can be caught in the paddock, lead, tie up, float load and will happily tackle our obstacle course and go for walks around the property.
We are developing this program, to allow people to come out to our sanctuary, choose the unhandled Brumby they love (all vet work done!) and they can be sent straight to your trainer for their handling, which is billed from your trainer, directly to you. Trainers will have to apply for this program and be approved. Your trainer will have to sign forms agreeing to train the Brumby to be caught, led, handed and loaded onto a float for you. They will bill you directly for this service. Please get in touch for more information.

Our Brumby gentling clinics are a great way to learn about Brumbies and to make a new friend for life. Our Brumbies come from various places across Australia. They will be wormed, microchipped and all colts and stallions gelded before the clinic.
During a gentling clinic, our team of trainers at Brumby Junction will assist you in choosing and training your very own Brumby, from their first connection and touch to being ready to go home with you. The clinics are typically held over a period of six days, and we cover training from first touch, to haltering, leading, and float training. At the end of the clinic you will take your Brumby home with you. These clinics are fun and lifechanging – get ready for the time of your life and a new best friend!
It is also possible to apply to receive completely wild Brumbies directly from the National Park. This application process comes up from time to time and has strict requirements. If you are interested in this process, please contact:
