VBA Zorro

VBA Zorro was caught as a lone stallion from the Bogong High Plains in 2009. According to locals, he had been a herd stallion for some time before disappearing around 6 months prior to his capture. When we picked him up, he had a very swollen knee which we assume was from losing his mob to another, likely younger stallion. 

Once he was ready to geld, our vet aged him at around 18 years old, making Zorro our oldest resident at around 33 years old!  Given Zorro's age, we gave him enough training to help him live here safely forever and turned him out to live his days here at our Brumby Junction Sanctuary.

Zorro paired up with VBA Thora and lived happily with her for more than 10 years before we lost Thora to an age related issue last year. As a team, Zorro and Thora helped us welcome newly caught, likely pregnant Brumby mares to domestic life. The mares they supported to settle here, have come and gone over the years but Zorro and Thora always stayed together. 

We are currently working to find this grand old man a grand old lady to share his life with!
